Homemade Night Cream for Dry Skin 自制干性皮肤晚霜

Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup Peach kernel oil
  2. 2 tbsp Extra virgin coconut oil
  3. 2 tbsp beeswax
  4. 1/2 tsp Vitamin E oil
  5. 1 tbsp Shea butter
  6. 4 drops Essential oil ( I chose Frankincense for its anti-aging properties)

Method

I always crack my head on what to buy for a night cream, they are mostly too oily or too sticky. And they always have SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), parfum, fragrance and of course preservatives. Although I do not like these chemicals, I do agree that the creams do require some form of preservatives to last for some time. But we should not allow the rest to come into our lives!

So in order to do that, we need to spend more effort in deciding what we want  for our body or rather, what is suitable for ourselves. Ignore those pretty labels on the shelves telling us what we should or should not buy and ignore those keywords "whitening", "anti-aging","purifying" and "age-defying". Be the healthy you from within and get what you need, not what you want.

As always for the DIY recipes, all you need to do is to mix them up. But due to the nature of the beeswax in this recipe, we need to double boil the mixture so that it does not melt over direct heat. It melts by getting the heat from the hot water in the pot. Usually the essential oil is dropped in last as we do not want the high heat to break down the properties of the oil.

First I would put the peach kernel oil into a glass container, with beeswax, shea butter, extra virgin coconut oil and Vitamin E oil. Put it in a pot of water on the stove. In this way, the stove heats up the pot of water that indirectly heats up the contents in the container. When all has melted, take out from the pot and add the frankincense essential oil when it has cooled a little and stir it to ensure that it is well mixed.

I would say this mix can be used for 3-6 months. Other than applying the face, it can also be applied on the hands and the neck. If you want to match this with a Homemade Facial Bubble Cleanser for Dry Skin, see recipe here
