Sweet and Sour Pork

This dish is made up of the sauce and popcorn chicken (see recipe here). You can also use this sauce for fish and seafood. 


  1. 200g pork loin, cut into 1.5cm cubes
  2. 150g pineapple, cut into similar size as pork loin
  3. 1 green pepper, cut
  4. 1 red pepper, cut
  5. 300ml oil
  6. light soya sauce, to taste
  7. black pepper
  8. 3g salt
  9. 3g cornstarch
  10. 1 egg, beaten
  11. 3 tbsp tomato sauce
  12. 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  13. 1 tbsp sugar
  14. 100ml water
  15. 50ml cornstarch mixture
  16. plain flour


  1. Marinate the pork loin cubes with light soya sauce, black pepper, salt, cornstarch and 1 tbsp oil for about 30 minutes. 里脊肉切1.5cm见方的块,加生抽1汤匙(15ml),黑胡椒粉少许,盐3g,淀粉3g,油1汤匙(15ml)腌制30分钟。菠萝切与肉差不多大小的块。青红椒分别切块
  2. Dip the marinated meat into the beaten egg and coat with plain flour. Make sure that the meat does not coat extra flour that it can. Under medium heat, fry the coated meat cubes for about 3-5 minutes or about 80% cooked. Sieve. 腌好的肉加打匀的鸡蛋,拌匀。把肉块在面粉里滚一圈,使其均匀的粘一层面粉。放在筛网里抖掉多余的粉。过油中火炸3-5分钟至8成熟。捞出沥干油备用
  3. Now to make the sweet and sour sauce, mix tomato sauce, rice vinegar, light soya sauce, sugar and water. Prepare the cornstarch mixture. 番茄酱3汤匙(45ml),米醋2汤匙(30ml),生抽1汤匙(15ml),糖1汤匙,清水100ml,调匀成料汁备用。水淀粉备用。
  4. Heat the wok with medium heat without adding oil and pour in the sauce. When the mixture starts to bubble, pour in the cornstarch mixture and stir till desired texture. 热锅,不用倒油。倒入料汁,中火烧开至冒泡时,倒入水淀粉,拌匀,熬至稍微粘稠
  5. Pour in fried meat, together with pineapple cubes and both peppers. Stir quickly, as we only want to coat with the sauce. 倒入肉,菠萝,青红椒迅速翻炒,使其均匀的挂上粘汁即可
